A little Red Make

I went camping the other day. It was so much fun,  I got so muddy and had to have 10 showers in 1 day. When we were there we saw sheep and lots of little lambs - they were so cute - which gave me an idea for a make...

How to make a little sheep!
1:Get two pompoms one bigish and one smallish. Stick the smallish one onto the bigish one so it looks like a snowman.  Now turn it on to its side.
2:Next get a straw and cut off four small equal parts. Then push them in to the bigish pompom for the legs.
3:Now get two googly eyes and stick them on to the smallish pompom.
3:Finally cut out two felt tear drops for ears. There you have it.

Bottoms, arty crafty heaven and three-legged fun

Whew, just back from a trip to Turkey little urchins.  I hopped into my creator’s suitcase to see what clothes she has planned for you next – skirts and shorts and babygrows with my face on the bottom. Very cute, even if I say so myself.

The snug Snooches have arrived for this winter too and I’ve been making myself a cosy nest in our studio.  You can visit me on 18 May when Second Floor Studios throws open its doors and you can see all the makers here.  Over 350 of them.  It’s crafty arty heaven – and there’s even a family creative area where you can get stuck in yourself for £1.  So come see us.

Sunny days are here too, some of the time.  We’ve been having three-legged races and playing rounders in Greenwich Park with a special soft bat and ball for the litttl’uns.  Great fun.

Little Red's mini adventures

Hi, Little Red here.

The sun’s out and I’m planning mini adventures to spice things up a bit.  I’ve got some great ideas for the kids at redurchin:
  • Cook breakfast outdoors.  All you need is bread, bacon, a camping stove and an adult to do the dangerous stuff.  We’ll do ours on the Thames beach, but you can find your local woods here
  • Get your parents to wake you at midnight on a clear night so you can lie on sunloungers wrapped in duvets and look at the stars.  Even better when there’s a meteor shower (look out for the Lyrids around Easter time)
  • Get your wellies on and find a stream to walk down – see how far you can go.
  • Take a weekend roadtrip to the coast and camp out.
  • Borrow someone’s dog for the day and take it on your mini adventure. (Dog owners are usually really happy to lend them out so they can do boring stuff like go on long shopping trips)
  • And for Easter: Charlie’s Chocolate Adventure at Kew Gardens, celebrating 50 whipple-scrumptious years of Charlie Bucket and Willy Wonka (in partnership with the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre)
I've just got to drag Theo and Zachy away from their Paper Toy Monsters Book of automata. They love it.

Have fun and be sure to tell me all about it.

Not long ‘til Half term

Yippee, half term holidays are on their way.  Theo, Melissa and the gang have promised to take me out with them.  Here’s what they’ve got lined up...

Bowling at the cool new Brooklyn Bowl at the O2.  (I’ll have to watch out for those balls, being just a little person.)

A day trip to Atlantis art warehouse near Brick Lane.  Art supplies as far as the eye can see and brilliant value prices.  (Way better than spending Christmas money on crummy plastic stuff.)  The girls are excited about mooching round the sari shops afterwards for scarves and beautiful bindis.  I think Zachy’s interested in the Indian sweets and mum likes the Huguenot architecture.  (She’ll try to drag everyone into the Dennis Severs’ House - a museum about how it looked in the silk weavers’ day).

Melissa’s obsessed with sewing right now and loving Jane Bull’s Crafty Creatures book.
She’s worked out that Abel and Cole use wool packs to keep their meat deliveries cool and the insides are fab for crafting.  There are stuffed mice everywhere here!

Have fun!
